Great discussion, particularly the link between Bonhoeffer and Barth. I remember reading that Barth had no use for his theological training. He considered it as biblical anthropology. He was not prepared to preach. He realized, in his efforts to write his first sermon, that he had nothing to say. We are in a denomination right now that adheres to more progressive Christianity. We feel like, to quote Herman Wouk, “visitors in a foreign country vainly pretending to be natives.”

In LETTERS AND PAPERS, Bonhoeffer has some interesting critiques of Barth. Definitely a fruitful interchange between two great thinkers!
